Hortus Botanicus: And you thought your garden was beautiful? The Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. Joods Historisch Museum: Jewish Historical Museum. The permanent collection illustrates the many aspects of Judaism in the Netherlands, both yesterday and today. The central motif is the religion, culture and history of the Jews in the Netherlands. The museum organizes several temporary exhibitions, on specific aspects of the Jewish history and culture. Often the themes have an international tone: they have shown the work of Chagall, told about the Sephardi diaspora, presented the story of the Jews of Russia etc. @ De permanente tentoonstelling laat diverse aspecten van het Jodendom in Nederland zien, zowel van vroeger als van tegenwoordig. Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam: The Royal Palace of Amsterdam The Royal Palace of Amsterdam was build in the 17th century as the new city hall of Amsterdam. After the signing of the peace treaty of Munster in 1648, Amsterdam started to execute its ambitious plan for a new city hall. The city council chose Jacob van Campen’s design for a large and impressive building. The power and wealth of the city of Amsterdam in the recently established Republic of the Netherlands are reflected in the building and its interior design. These ideals have been portrayed in the sculptures by Artus Quellien and in the paintings by e.g. Govert Flinck and Ferdinand Bol. When King Louis Napoleon came to Amsterdam in 1808 he had the city hall turned into a royal palace. The large collection of Empire style furniture, chandeliers and clocks date from this period. The palace is still used for official functions by ‘Trix’ (her Majesty the Queen), but in the summer the palace is open for her subjects and other visitors.
Museum voor Vrede en Geweldloosheid: The Museum for Peace and Non-Violence contributes to a future where a culture of peace and non-violence prevails. "Peace on the internet", sounds great. The museum participates in the International Network of Peace Musea, an NGO that has been recognized by the United Nations.

Persmuseum: The national archive for the journalistic heritage. It manages a large collection newspapers and journals, political cartoons and press photos. @ Het Persmuseum is de nationale bewaarplaats voor het journalistieke erfgoed. Het beheert niet alleen een grote collectie kranten en tijdschriften vanaf 1600, maar ook een verzameling affiches, politieke tekeningen, persgrafiek en persfoto's.
Rembrandthuis: The Rembrandt House is the 17th century house in which the master lived and worked from 1639 till 1658. The house in which his son titus was born and his wife Saskia prematurely died is also the place where he painted and made his prints. In 1911 Rembrandt's house became a museum and it now owns and houses almost all of Rembrandt's etchings ( 250 in total). They are exhibited in the very same surroundings in which they where created. Also to be found in the museum are a small number of his drawings as well as paintings by his pupils and his teacher (Pieter Lastman).
Rembrandt aan de Amstel: An addition to the exposition in the town archive of Amsterdam. Royal Tropical Institute - Tropen museum: The largest anthropological museum in the Netherlands. Drawn from the museum's huge collections they built realistic reconstructions of local environments and attractive displays of exhibits.
